e-Golf powertrain packs a bit of low-end muscle, with 132kW of power, which gives a sense of elegant refinement you’d expect from VW, but also with competitive performance.
The new People’s car
For over four decades the Golf has captured the imagination of car buyers and became known as people’s car. The e-Golf wants to help people switch to electric by launching a car that’s easily understood, easy to use and feels like any other Golf.

**How we've calcualated this estimate:** The running costs are estimated based on the selected mileage and the type of fuel that is used to drive the vehicles. In case of electric vehicles, the cost per mile is calculated based on the vehicle’s battery capacity and the WLTP range of the vehicle. The total cost is then a multiple of cost per mile and the annual mileage.
**Electricity cost** = (Battery capacity kWh x UK Average electricity cost 4 £ / WLTP range miles) x Annual Mileage miles
For the combustion vehicle, a comparable model in price and performance is chosen. The amount of fuel required to cover the mileage multiplied by the cost per gallon would provide the total cost.
**Fuel costs = **(Annual Mileage miles / MPG miles/gallon) * Fuel cost per gallon5 £/gallon
The savings is the difference between the two.
