Smart Ones to watch

Smart has intriguing origins. Back in the 80s, the CEO of SMH (who make Swatch watches) Nicolas Hayek wanted a car you could kinda personalise like you could your Swatch watch. Fast forward to now – with partnership with Mercedes-Benz along the way – and you’ve got Smart cars. Short for Swatch Mercedes Art. The more you know, eh? Their two current electric car models are the Smart EQ ForTwo – which also comes with a soft top by the way – and ForFour.

They field tested their very first all-electric car way back in 2007. So Smart were way ahead of the curve. And with their Smart Forease+ concept car looking so darn nippy and adorable, we think they still are.
