Honda Sports EV Concept Car

The last time Honda made a sports car it absolutely smashed it with the pretty S2000. That was yonks ago, though, so this gorgeous Sports EV can’t give Honda’s dowdy image a boost soon enough. Its styling might come off a bit Marmite, but we kinda dig it. Shame that it may never make production, so your best bet for something small, perky and ready to lease in the UK right now is a hot hatch EV like the very similar Honda e, Peugeot e-208 or MINI Electric. Have a think, then if you wanna chat just drop us a note or call us on 020 8012 8190.

Design

From hatchback to fastback
Expect the Sports EV to borrow from what’s underneath the Honda e hatchback – so circa-150bhp from a single electric motor, a pretty diddy 35.5kWh battery good for around 150 miles of driving and 100kW DC rapid charging to boost your charge from almost empty to almost full in about 30 minutes. Low weight and nimble handling should make up for the modest punch, just like the old S2000.

Exteriors

Bootylicious
The Sports EV’s curvaceous lines suggest retro sports cars (even a Toyota model from the 1960s, oddly), and we dig ’em, but there’s also more tech than a Shinjuku shopping mall, including cameras for wing mirrors, LED rings for headlights, officially ‘artificial intelligence’ of some description and – we’d guess – the same huge iPad-style instrument panel stretching over the dash as the Honda e production car. Come on Honda, get it built.
